Bunsi Press is named after a small, wild-hearted lop-eared bunny who was a member of our family during the years just before what I would now, in hindsight, call my awakening.

He was lively, curious, and quietly independent—moving between house and garden, cage and freedom, as though he belonged to both the ordinary world and something just beyond it. He preferred exploration over confinement, often disappearing into hidden corners and returning in his own time, carrying a presence that felt far more aware than we could easily explain.

Over time, as my own sensitivity deepened, Bunsi’s presence began to shift from companion to something more subtle. Through dreams, intuition, and fleeting moments of knowing, he seemed to communicate in ways that bypassed language—gentle signals that something unseen was beginning to open.

There were moments that stayed with me. Times he appeared in dreams, expressing what he could not outwardly. A time he went missing for days, only to be found alive against all odds—fragile, quiet, and somehow unchanged. Each moment carried a quiet imprint, as though something deeper was being revealed through him.

When Bunsi passed away, the grief did not feel contained to loss alone. It reached somewhere deeper—into a place that had long been closed. Not the surface heart, but the hidden heart behind it: the place of trust, tenderness, surrender, and the silent bonds that exist beyond words.

In losing him, something deeper within me opened, allowing me to become receptive to my own nature and the nature of our reality. Bunsi Press is named in honour of that opening.

It carries the incredible spirit of that seemingly small life—freedom, sensitivity, intelligence, and a quiet, playful mischief. It is a space for writing that listens beneath the surface: to consciousness, to nature, to culture, to the subtle architecture of being human.

Here, stories and reflections are not simply written words but with the essence of lived, observed truth. They are gathered, shaped, and released—like small lanterns, finding their way through the world.

The Story Behind the Name

Bunsi opened something in me.

This work exists in the hope that it may catalyse

what is sacred, waiting to open in others.
